There's a first time for everything...
So, I have really and truly never signed into a blog until today. I mean, sure, I've read a couple posts here and there from other people, but I like the idea of us posting updates on this, and I realized that I better get off my tushy and learn how to do this! So here goes....
After almost 6 months of marriage, DJ and I are doing well and loving being married! He is actually working this summer at Oak Ridge (a gov-run nuclear lab) just west of Knoxville - so that's where we are. We've been here since mid-May and will be heading back to Raleigh at the end of July. Things here are great! I have enjoyed being here and learning my way around the city. Not to mention that I'm thrilled he has this opportunity - and I am so thankful that I could come with him instead of being in Raleigh while he was here for the summer. After a long-distance dating/engagement, I really have had enough! (Meg, I have no idea how you and Matt did it!)
I'm still working - free-lance stuff for Weight Watchers, and a little here and there for a kids cooking school in Raleigh. I really am so thankful for flexible jobs that enable me to make money and still be able to pick up and move. God is good.
I guess that's all the important stuff for now - Maybe next time I decide to post something, I won't spend 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get to the "new post" page. Hey, every day is an adventure, right? And I never claimed to be good with technology...
Love you all!

Tucker's officially employed!
Woohoo! So, for those of you who didn't know, Tucker finished law school last May and passed the bar last July. However, despite being ready to work, we have been part of that 14% unemployment ratio from our lovely economic situation here in the US. Until last Tuesday that is! Tucker got a job offer last week and started work today. He is working for the Department of Labor, which is great, and it's here in Athens, which is even better since he won't have to leave me to go work elsewhere! He's still looking for jobs that are more suited to his career goals, but God has definitely blessed us with this job (and paycheck!) for the inbetween. Thanks for all of your prayers! God is so faithful to us and provides for us when we least expect it!

it's a bird, it's a plane... oh wait it's fran and erika

Well, Fran and I decided back at Leigh Mac's wedding that we needed to get in better shape. Jokingly, we said, "hey, let's do a 10k in atlanta." Now, I'm sure you all know this, but Fran nor I am a "runner" per se, so this was a huge deal for us!
So, Fran, Nancy Hicks, and I decided to run the shamrock-n-roll 10K. I went to the ATL last night for our pasta pump-up dinner, which was lovely, and saw more gay bars in a 3 mile radius that I ever thought possible. Who knew?! Fran had picked up my race bag for me yesterday afternoon and was miffed to find that I received running socks in mine and she didn't... so she stole my blue pair.
So, race number pinned on (with quilting safety pins because that's all Fran had... I'll be expecting my new quilt from her anyday now) we show up at our race this morning at 7:30, when we really could've shown up at 8:15 if we'd been race pros and knew the drill. Now, keep in mind that last night was daylight savings time, so really we had to wake up at 5:30 to the sound of Fran's weird i-phone alarm that sounds like a warning that a ship is sinking (maybe I've been watching too much "LOST".) Fran and I aren't really morning people, but luckily they handed out green beads at the race to be our lucky charms and wake us up. There were definitely mom's running with strollers who kicked our tails... embarassing. And a runner's dog decided to poop in the middle of the street right in front of me during the race (hilarious). But we both finished the race without stopping (and totally far from last place!) and are now official runners...maybe :). Thanks for the prayers!
There's talk of a furman reunion at a half-marathon in Greenville in October... think about it! It would be so fun for all of us to run it together! Look up the Spinx marathon and half marathon if you're interested.

I'm getting married!

I don't blog... but here we go!

Jay and I got engaged two weeks ago and are getting married in Birmingham on August 21st. We are really excited and I'm so thankful for him and our relationship!
To give a run-down for those of you who don't know. Jay and I went to high school together and were good friends. We actually went to Homecoming together our senior year. I NEVER liked him, but he had a crush on me :) We continued to be friends when I went to Furman and he went to Auburn, and reconnected after we graduated, while I was in London! He came to visit, we had our first kiss in Paris, and started dating when I came back state-side!
The engagement was a definite surprise. While I knew it was coming, he sure tricked me! He involved my rooommates and his roommates and proposed on the beach! It was perfect.
I'll keep it at that.

Also, Erika and I are running in a 10K on Sunday.

Indy to the Queen City!
Good morning friends!
I know most of you are probably at work while I am sitting at my little breakfast table in Charlotte. We love it here and are so excited to be back in the Carolinas. As many of you know Ryan and I moved to Indianapolis right after we got married. He worked for his dad's company and I went to nursing school. We loved our time there, even though it was very cold and at times a little lonely for me. I graduated in August and really since the summer of last year we had been looking for a way to get back to the Carolinas. We love it here and we wanted to be closer to the familiarity of where we met. He was very fortunate to get a new job with BB&T that he started February 1st. We is essentially doing the same job he had in Indy just with a new company. I will also be doing the same kind of nursing that I was doing in Indianapolis. I am a pediatric oncology nurse, and I LOVE it. The children and they families are wonderful and I really considerate a privilege to be their nurse.
Last week when Ryan and I were at the Y working out I ran into Laura Ann
I love the idea of catching up with all of you, I hope there are many more posts to come!
love, jill

Welcome to our new blog!
Ok, so I had to create a new blog so that all of us could post to it (Thank you Jill!). So here's the new blog address... I hope you all will blog away! I can't wait to hear about your lives and all of the fun (or stressful!) things going on so we can pray for each other and continue to love one another from all over the country! Let me know if you have more questions! The email should explain how to post and all of that!
